As announced in Indiewire today, we are launching a new partnership with the crowdfunding platform Seed&Spark! Our goal is to empower filmmakers throughout the entire funding, production, and distribution process.

Building off our collaboration on The Distribution Playbook, "The Partnership for the Collective Good" provides Seed&Spark creators with valuable resources designed to support their projects once they’re ready to be released to audiences.

We know that developing a distribution strategy can begin as early as the fundraising stage, so we want to help filmmakers as they think through that.

Successful Seed&Spark filmmakers will get direct access to Kinema’s distribution platform, enabling them to reach audiences directly and keep creative control over their work. In addition, Kinema will be integrated into Seed&Spark’s educational workshops, giving filmmakers critical tools and insights into digital distribution strategies.

As part of the partnership, Kinema will offer Seed&Spark creators:

To make the process as easy as possible, Kinema and Seed&Spark will also create a playbook and FAQ to guide filmmakers through all partnership benefits and help them claim and distribute their promo codes.

How does a Seed&Spark creator quality?
As long as your Seed&Spark campaign ended on or after January 1st, 2025 you are automatically eligible for these partnership benefits. Campaigns that ended prior to 2025 are not eligible at this time.

How do I qualify for the fee waiver ?

You'll need to have amassed at least 500 followers on Seed&Spark.

Once your film page is live on Kinema, we will create and send to you the promo codes to distribute to your backers.

Seed&Spark has so many incredible filmmakers and campaigns! We set a bar low enough to work with many filmmakers, but high enough to ensure that the filmmakers are dedicated to their fundraising and distribution campaigns.

How do I best utilize this partnership?

The goal of our partnership is to make it super easy for filmmakers to leverage the audience-building momentum of a crowdfunding campaign for successful distribution to that same audience in the future. We recommend that creators offer Kinema streams and the opportunity to host Kinema screenings of their films as incentives for their Seed&Spark campaigns. We will make it easy and cost-effective to fulfill Kinema-related incentives for completed Seed&Spark campaigns, while offering additional resources to build community distribution campaigns for your project.
