Join us for the Lisbon premiere of HANDMADE FUTURE, an award-winning documentary celebrating the people, skills and stories behind the global handmade movement. Recently featured in top tier publications such as Condé Nast Traveler, Vogue Business, and The Art Newspaper.
Travelling across six countries, the film follows artisans working to preserve generations of craft and cultural heritage while navigating the challenges of fast production, changing markets and responsible trade. From rug weavers in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and block printers in India to broom makers in Kentucky and recycled-glass artisans in Kenya, HANDMADE FUTURE offers an intimate look at the beauty, value and human connection found in making things by hand.
At a time when so much of what we buy is designed to be fast, cheap and disposable, the film asks a timely question: what can artisans teach us about creating a more sustainable, connected and meaningful future?
About the film
HANDMADE FUTURE follows artisans in six countries who preserve heritage, navigate the complex role of middlemen, and advance responsible trade—pushing back against fast, cheap production to quietly restore a frayed world through beauty and human connection. From rug weavers in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and block printers in India’s Golden Triangle to Appalachian broom makers in Kentucky and recycled-glass blowers in Kenya, the film showcases craftspeople whose work carries generations of skill, culture, and creativity.
