About the event
Hey Friends! We invite you to join us for an inspiring evening celebrating craftsmanship, culture, and conscious living with a special screening of HANDMADE FUTURE.
This award-winning documentary follows nine artisans across six countries—from rug weavers in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and block printers in India’s Golden Triangle to Appalachian broom makers in Kentucky and candlemakers in Oaxaca, Mexico. Pushing back against fast, cheap production, HANDMADE FUTURE tells a quiet yet powerful story of protecting heritage, confronting complex global middlemen, and restoring our connection to beauty and community.
We are thrilled to welcome our friend and filmmaker Kirsten Dickerson, who will be joining us in person to share the story behind the film and her journey founding Artist & Nomad.
Doors open at 6:00 pm; the film begins at 6:30 pm (75 min) and concludes with a conversation with the filmmaker.
Highlights of the Evening:
Live Guest: Director Kirsten Dickerson joins us to share insights from making the film and launching her global venture, Artist & Nomad.
Pop-Up Market: Shop exclusive items created by artisans showcased in the film.
Community Gathering: Enjoy wine, snacks, and conversation at Kiln.
Every ticket purchased supports the filmmaker, the Artisan Fund, and a local Portland arts initiative.
