About the event

Thank you for registering to join us today for the virtual screening of If An Owl Calls Your Name, the third in the 12-film series, Wisdom of the Ancestors. My name is Elizabeth (Liz) Legg and I’m the owner of The Road Less Traveled Counseling Center and founder of Denver Collaborative Health Center in Denver, Colorado--the unceded lands of Hinonoeino (Arapaho), Tsitsista (Cheyenne), Oceti Sakowin (Sioux), and Nunt'zi (Ute). The Road Less Traveled Counseling Center, along with our friends and colleagues at Experience Change are so glad to have you joining us on this journey!

We are also thrilled to be hosting Mauri IN PERSON at The People's Building on June 11th at 6:30pm (Doors Open at 6pm) in Aurora, Colorado. After the film, there will be space to connect informally with the community. All offerings are free or donation-based!  We had 168 people registered for our In Person screening of The Eternal Song last month! Thank you to all of you who joined us.

Register HERE for The Mauri In Person on Thursday April 23rd at 6:30pm (Doors Open at 6pm) and please share with others!

Donations are welcome and we are seeking interested sponsors to help cover our costs so we can continue to offer screenings for free over the next two+ years. Please see our SPONSORSHIP LETTER and email us at info@theroadlesstraveledcounseling.com if you are interested in partnering as a Sponsor or to hold space for others after the Mauri screening on June 11th (last month, we had lovely offerings of AcuDetox, Breathwork, Yoga/Movement Therapy, a Grief and Integration Circle and Group Processing--Thank you to all of you who held space for our community!). We hope that together, we can fill each virtual screening and the 220 seats at The People's Building for the remaining 11 films. We would appreciate your help in spreading the word and the love!

Information about the remaining film screenings will be updated regularly on our website: https://www.theroadlesstraveledcounseling.com/wisdom-of-the-ancestors-film-series

About the film

Patricia June Vickers, her brother Roy Henry Vickers, along with other Indigenous elders, healers, and activists from the Esk’etemc, Gitxsan, and Wet’suwet’en territories reflect upon their lives as forcefully assimilated Canadians. The effects of intergenerational trauma echo through the voices of residential school survivors and their children as they heal from substance abuse, violence, and disconnect from their culture.

Through connection to land, ancestral wisdom, and ceremonial healing they transform darkness into forgiveness and inner reconciliation. Prayers beyond religion, these stories echo a universal yearning for belonging and the sacredness of all life.
