About the film
The story of an island community changed forever when a ‘perfect wave’ is found in the 1970’s by travelling surfers hoping to find their holy grail... Point of Change chronicles this ‘discovery' of the magnificent point break on Nias island, Indonesia, and the dramatic chain of events that followed. The true story of the first surf pioneers to find and surf ‘the point’ and the consequences for them, on a personal level, and the people and place, on a social and ecologicial level. We travel through time and revisit the megalithic island, taking a trip with the first surfers and the never before seen super 8 footage, taking us on an unexpected journey through time and examining what happens when we "discover" ‘paradise’ ~ perfection comes at a cost ~
