About the event
Can We Still Sit at the Same Table?: A screening of 'Scenes from the Divide' followed by a conversation with actress Milana Vayntrub, protagonist Nicole Krishtul, and director Alison Klayman.
Since Scenes from the Divide premiered this spring the conversations it captures continue to evolve and transform with our political landscape. They've moved from kitchen tables to ballot boxes, group chats, and holiday dinners.
Join us for a night of conversation with actor Milana Vayntrub, 'Scenes from the Divide' protagonist Nicole Krishtul, and director Alison Klayman. We'll watch the film together, then talk about what has changed since Zohran Mamdani's election, where the divide within the Jewish community stands as the midterms approach, and what it takes to keep talking across generations when the stakes feel this high.
What to expect:
7:00pm ET: Tune in to watch 'Scenes from the Divide'
7:32-8:15pm ET: A live conversation with Milana Vayntrub, Nicole Krishtul, and Alison Klayman on how the political landscape has shifted since the film was made, and what these conversations look like now in our families and communities

More about our special guests:
Milana Vayntrub is an actor, comedian, director, and founder, born in Uzbekistan and raised in Los Angeles. You may know her from Project Hail Mary, This Is Us, Werewolves Within, and as Lily in the AT&T commercials. She is also the founder of Only Philanthropy, a donation platform that uses humor to raise money for urgent causes.
Alison Klayman is an award-winning filmmaker known for documenting some of the most prominent people and stories of our time, through a singularly intimate lens. She has profiled the eponymous Chinese artist and activist in Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry, which earned a Special Jury Prize at Sundance and put Alison on the New York Times’ list of 20 Directors to Watch; singer Alanis Morrisette in Jagged; and right wing strategist Steve Bannon in The Brink. She has also chronicled the rise and fall (and rise again) of iconic brand Abercrombie & Fitch in White Hot; the pervasiveness of prescription stimulants in Take Your Pills; and the WNBA’s New York Liberty in Unfinished Business.

About the film
In the lead-up to Zohran Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York City, many of the city’s Jewish leadership, as well as pundits and politicians, worked overtime arguing that the candidate’s history of support for Palestine represented a threat to Jews. By inviting viewers into the homes of New Yorkers on both sides of the campaign, Scenes from the Divide unsettles this familiar story. Rather than a controversy over a particular election or candidate, the film reveals a fierce battle among American Jews over identity, history, and responsibility. Scenes from the Divide explores the story behind the story, uncovering a fraught struggle within a rapidly transforming community.
