About the event

Southern Documentary Fund (SDF) champions Southern documentary makers and stories. Inspired by our belief in the power of media to change lives, we provide documentarians with resources, including grants, fiscal sponsorship, and mentorship–all to promote Southern stories and lower barriers for documentary makers and underrepresented voices.

This live event will be followed by a conversation with STAY PRAYED UP Co-Director D.L. Anderson and SDF Artistic Director Christopher Everett. For more information about SDF visit: https://southerndocumentaryfund.org/

About the film

Lena Mae “Mother” Perry, the backbone of her community, cooks for crowds, tends to the needy, and boy, can she sing! After 50 years leading the dynamic, down-home gospel group The Branchettes, the octogenarian powerhouse, armed with her unwavering faith, shows no signs of slowing down. Taking us inside her loving community while following the recording of the group’s first album, this film is bursting with warmth, joy, and soul-stirring gospel music.
