About the film
Set across decades and continents, THE QUEEN OF MY DREAMS is a vibrant, genre-blending mother-daughter dramedy that explores queerness, memory, and the Bollywood dreams that shape us. Azra, a queer Muslim grad student in Canada, finds herself on a whirlwind journey through her family’s past after the sudden death of her father. As she travels to Pakistan, memory and imagination blur - transporting her between 1969 Karachi and 1999 Nova Scotia, and between her own coming-of-age and her mother’s.
With a bold visual style and a breakout dual performance by Amrit Kaur (HBO's THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS), the film is an emotionally resonant and joyfully cinematic portrait of intergenerational healing. The film also stars Nimra Bucha (POLITE SOCIETY, MS. MARVEL), Hamza Haq (TRANSPLANT, VIKING), and Ayana Manji (MUSTACHE).
