About the event
"It's so nice to watch someone else's family argue for once" is one of our most common reviews!
So, this Thanksgiving, we're giving you that gift with a screening of This Will Never Work. On Thursday, November 19th, at 5pm PT / 8pm ET, we'll have a live virtual screening, followed by a talkback. Marina, Nicco, and their cast will discuss writing and performing family, fiction vs. documentary, and just generally dish on the goss of a fake family -- before you're subjected to your real one.
About the film
A Black family comes together to have an intervention for Amanda's drinking problem. They've hired a therapist named Trevor (a white man, not that it matters), written emotional letters, and now they sit and wait for Amanda to arrive. But when she does, Trevor realizes that the family hasn't exactly been honest with him.
Fresh off an award-winning festival run and featuring the best comedic and theater talent in NYC, this film is for anyone who's brought their family to therapy and thought they could win.
