Join us for a virtual screening of The Other, followed by a post screening discussion with Director/Filmmaker, Joy Sela and special guests: Sulaiman Khatib- Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, Combatants for Peace Co-Founder, Nonviolence Activist & Storyteller; along with Chen Alon- Combatants for Peace Co-Founder, Theatre Activist, Director & Scholar.
Combatants for Peace is a binational grassroots movement of Palestinians and Israelis working together to end the occupation and bring peace, freedom and safety for all people between the Jordan river and the Mediterranean sea. Committed to joint nonviolence since it's inception 20 years ago, Combatants for Peace uses civil resistance, education and other creative means of activism to transform systems of oppression and build a free and just future based on collective liberation.
Ticket proceeds for this event will be supporting the Olive Harvest Campaign: Accompanying farmers to their fields, helping them harvest their olives while providing a visible protective presence and helping create safer conditions for them to work. It is an important form of nonviolent action and a practical way to stand with Palestinian farmers, resist displacement, and support their ability to remain on and cultivate their land.

About the film
Award winning documentary exploring the complex relationship between Palestinians & Israelis —and the transformative journey that follows when they are faced with meeting ‘the other’ amidst the difficulty of the conflict & occupation—providing an extraordinary example of what we are all capable of as humans.
Often referred to as an antidote to polarization, The Other is the first film to explore Israel-Palestine peace initiatives in both a pre and post Oct 7th context
Filmed from 2017-2024, The Other focuses on peace-builders, anti-occupation activists, ex-fighters, bereaved parents and many more. Whether in non-violent co-resistance or peace-building, we witness those who have only known each other through hate, bloodshed, inequality, and war, transcend beyond narratives & belief systems. They teach us that unlearning deep-seated conditioning is possible and that we can liberate ourselves from generational trauma, hatred and fear—no matter how ingrained and legitimate those fears are.
