About the event
In celebration of London Climate Action Week, this month’s featured screening from the Global Climate Playlist is The People vs. Climate Change.
This timely documentary captures a historic first in the UK: Parliament convenes 108 randomly selected citizens to form a Climate Assembly and confront one of the most urgent issues of our time. Featuring insight from Sir David Attenborough, the film follows seven assembly members as they navigate the complexities of reaching net zero by 2050—grappling with personal values, political divides, and the collective choices we face as a society.
The People vs. Climate Change is a powerful testament to the role of citizen engagement and the potential of shared dialogue in driving climate solutions.
Join us for a virtual screening on Wednesday, June 26th at 7:00 PM BST, followed by a live Q&A with featured contributors, including Citizens’ Assembly Member Sue Peachy, Expert Lead at Citizens' Assembly, Lorraine Whitmarsh, and Steve Smith, Executive Producer.

About the film
Meet the ordinary Brits who’ll help decide how Britain solves the climate crisis.
Britain has made big promises about reducing our impact on the planet, but getting there means huge changes to our everyday lives. In this surprising and funny documentary, we follow members of the UK’s first ever Citizens Assembly on climate change, where 108 ordinary Brits are tasked with deciding what we should do to meet our climate change goals.
Organised by the UK Parliament, this historic event sees members of the public grapple with big questions about our future. As the Assembly members learn the science of climate change from experts and hear Sir David Attenborough thank them for giving up their time to this task, they begin to realise the huge significance of the decisions they must make.
