About the event

Bankie Banx: King of the Dune is currently making the rounds on the festival circuit, but since the locations aren't always convenient, we wanted to make the film available to EVERYONE for one weekend before it is released later this year. We'll donate our cut of the ticket sales to the Anguilla Music Academy, a state of the art recording studio and non-profit educational facility that has been introducing students of all ages and backgrounds to the art of music performance, production, and engineering since 2015.

If you'd like to hear from the team behind the film, you can purchase a ticket HERE for a special online screening followed by a Q&A with Bankie and the film's director moderated by Bankie's son Olaide at 4pm EST (9pm UTC) on Saturday, January 11th for $9.99.

About the film

Bankie Banx: King of the Dune celebrates the life and music of the Anguillian singer-songwriter known by many as “the Bob Dylan of the Caribbean.” Growing up on an undeveloped island where necessity often dictated life choices, young Bankie made his first guitar and voraciously soaked up everything from British top 40 and folk to Rastafarianism and the Pan-Africanism of Walter Rodney. In 1978 he released his first album, and his breakout hit “Prince of Darkness” put both Bankie and Anguilla on the map. After a decade of touring and battling industry executives determined to pigeonhole his sound, Bankie came home and created the Moonsplash music festival and the Dune Preserve – a beach bar, performance venue, and de facto kingdom. World class musicians and audiences must now come to him. With a guitar in one hand and a joint in the other, Bankie continues to make music while enjoying a degree of self-determination most artists only dream of.
