About the event

The Office of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion would like to present this short film for the Equity Grand Rounds Series in December.

About the film

In Faces of Medicine, Dr. Khama Ennis shares the journeys, successes, and struggles of some of the trailblazing Black female physicians who account for only ~2.8% of US doctors and the story of Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, who was the first Black woman to earn an MD in the US in 1864. This film changes the expectation of what our doctors look like and who our physicians are by providing a rare glimpse into the backstories of the amazing people who are taking care of all of us. The documentary reflects on the allies & challengers who got them where they are, building bridges of empathy so that all viewers, regardless of demographics, leave with a better understanding of the struggles we experience and our shared humanity.Learn more about the project at www.FacesofMedicine.org!
