Israelism: A Screening By JVP Charlotte

Jewish Voice For Peace Charlotte invites you to a screening of Israelism, the documentary that follows a young Jewish American college student through her eye opening trip to Palestine, and asks the questions she couldn’t get answered. This documentary begs us to meet our faith at the entrance to a better world, and live up to the youth. The screening will be followed by a talk with Barry Trachtenberg of Wake Forest University.
Barry Trachtenberg holds the Rubin Presidential Chair in Jewish History at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He is the author of three books, most recently The Holocaust & the Exile of Yiddish (2022) and The United States and the Nazi Holocaust: Race, Refuge, and Remembrance (2018). He has published on issues related to American support for Israel, Zionism, Anti-zionism, and Antisemitism in venues such as Jewish Currents, the ForwardElectronic Intifada, and Mondoweiss. In 2017, he testified to the US Congress on the topic of antisemitism on college and university classrooms. In 2023, he submitted with colleagues expert testimony on a lawsuit filed by the Center for Constitutional Rights and in 2024 testified in the trial DCI-Palestine v. Biden seeking an emergency injunction to stop military and diplomatic support for Israeli government’s genocidal assault on Gaza. He is a member of the Academic Advisory Boards of Jewish Voice for Peace and the Institute for the Critical Study of Zionism.
We appreciate and honor your presence to show up with an open heart.

About the space

We deeply appreciate your spending some of your weekend with us, and hope to make this a memorable and positive experience.
Please arrive between 5:30 and 6 pm as we will have checkin at the courtyard to the right side of the theater. We will fill the seats that are empty, and the movie will begin around 6:30.
Security is of utmost importance to us and we ask that no weapons are brought into the screening, so please plan accordingly.
Arriving early will guarantee your seat, and if by a very highly UNLIKELY chance we reach capacity, (and you had a ticket reserved) we will be glad to offer you a complimentary ticket to another movie in the venue on the same night (there are some great selections).
We will have the Q and A recorded and the Menti.com presentation available for 11 days afterwards, so if you find the time to watch it on your own, you can still join in the conversation, and we look forward to hearing your feedback and answering questions. Just go to the website and you will see the option to enter a code: 6406-7087 Accessibility:
Our entrance, all screening areas, and all public areas and restrooms are fully accessible. All of our auditoriums have designated wheelchair seating and companion seats. Assisted listening and closed captioning devices are available upon request. We have a parking lot, which has multiple handicapped spaces and ramps. All of our restrooms are gender neutral, for use by all guests.
