In honor of Congressman John Lewis' tremendous and tireless work for civil rights and justice for all Americans, and in celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, the Martin Luther King Jr Commission of Mid-Michigan and the East Lansing Public Library are collaborating to show the film "John Lewis: Good Trouble" on August 6, 2020 at 6:30pm on the lawn of the Michigan State Capitol. It is a time to reflect on and show appreciation for Congressman Lewis' selfless acts of heroism and patriotism as he worked to ensure the right to vote.

The timely biopic focuses on John Lewis’ longstanding prominence as a civil rights champion and his crusade for racial and social equality. The documentary illuminates the 80-year-old Congressman’s life as it chronicles the moments on the extraordinary journey that have shaped his place in history and make him such a galvanizing figure today as protests circle the globe.

Per the Governor's Executive Order, capacity for this event is 100 total attendees. Please wear masks and social distance. Bring a chair or a blanket to sit on to enjoy the film. Parking is available on the street and in parking garages in downtown Lansing.
