About the event
Help Us Make True Believer Available to ALL Before the Election!
As her faith community betrays the Jesus they taught her to love, an evangelical filmmaker reckons with the ‘pro-life’ political identity she built her life on, and that threatens our very Democracy.
Join our virtual screening and panel discussion about reproductive justice leading into the election!
In 2016, 81% of white evangelical voters voted for Donald Trump. That number rose to 85% amongst white evangelical, church-going voters in 2020. Thanks to Trump and his runningmate’s hateful, unhinged rhetoric, a lot of people are undecided about how they will vote. We know that this election will come down to a few thousand votes in less than a handful of states—our goal is to reach the critical voters who are undecided as they go to the polls, particularly those who have historically been single-issue (abortion) voters based on their religious beliefs, but who are now questioning how they want to vote moving forward.
“TRUE BELIEVER is one of the most important films of our time. It is not only a tool for healing and reckoning within the white evangelical community, but it is also the answer to, 'How we got here, and what's at stake,' for those outside of it. As a former church girl and lifelong political activist, I know that this film will be a catalyst to change and restoration.” - Lyn Davis Lear, Executive Producer, True Believer
You also have access to a panel discussion on reproductive rights featuring Lisa Sharon Harper (Freedom Road), historian & public theologian Diana Butler Bass, Elaina Ramsey (Faith Choice Ohio), and sex educator Erica Smith, moderated by the film’s director, Kristen Irving. Watch the panel discussion HERE.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to support organizations like Faith Choice Ohio doing on the ground work, and to support our 2025 True Believer Reproductive Justice Tour, where we will be taking the film across the US to raise awareness about this key issue.
