About the event
Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking screening of "Where Olive Trees Weep," a documentary that offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. This film delves deep into themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice, presenting an intimate and raw portrayal of life in one of the world's most contested regions.
Through the eyes of Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass, we explore the human side of the conflict. Witness the impactful trauma-healing work of Dr. Gabor Maté, as he engages with a group of women who have endured torture in Israeli prisons.
The documentary paints a vivid picture of ancient landscapes scarred by the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and the denial of basic human rights. Yet, amidst the oppression, we see a glimpse of resilience—a testament to the deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives.
This emotional journey not only bares the humanity of the oppressed but also grapples with the profound question: what makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?
