About the event
TEAO aligns with transforming mental healthcare reaching out to the community, one individual at a time. TEAO focuses on standing in the middle, to fill in the gaps to mental health care for those who become invisible to the system. Through our efforts, TEAO aims to bring visibility and support to those who have been overlooked by traditional mental health services. We build connections and provide resources for those who have endured trauma, helping them find the care they deserve."Where Olive Trees Weep" highlights the struggles of Palestinian communities affected by war and systemic neglect. By shining a light on their experiences, the film advocates for greater visibility, support, and resources to address their trauma. Where Olive Trees Weep gives visibility to a community that is currently being traumatized by the effects that war has on the body, while living under a cloak of what seems like global invisibility. TEAO is committed to filling these gaps by increasing awareness and offering support for loss and grief in times of crisis for communities and individuals that have walked similar paths of oppression and systemic neglect.
About the film
Where Olive Trees Weep offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice. We follow, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. We witness Dr. Gabor Maté offering trauma-healing work for a group of women who have been tortured in Israeli prisons. Ancient landscapes bear deep scars, having witnessed the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of resilience—deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives. This emotional journey bares the humanity of the oppressed while grappling with the question: what makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?
