At Your Cervix breaks the silence about how medical students learn to perform pelvic exams. Following filmmaker and sexuality educator, A’magine, the film exposes how students are often taught on unconscious patients without their knowledge or consent. Interviews with students, patients, doctors, midwives, politicians and advocates provide compelling and often deeply emotional testimony as to why nonconsensual and unethical pelvic exams on patients under anesthesia must end. The film offers an empowering solution that will revolutionize how pelvic exams are taught and performed in schools and clinics across the country.

A’magine has been teaching and speaking about feminism and sexuality for over two decades. As a queer sexuality educator, A’magine wanted to impact people who were entering the field of medicine about sexuality and gender.

She earned her Master’s degree in Human Sexuality Education at New York University and studied film at New School University. She delivered her TEDx talk “Owning Your Sexual Power” in Napa Valley and was named one of GO! Magazine’s “100 Women We Love.”

She developed, wrote and hosted over 60 episodes of a women’s sexuality program on the Pseudo Streaming Network. She co-wrote and produced the sold-out play Vulvalution in New York’s downtown theatre community. A’magine is author of Woman on Fire and co-author of Lesbian Sex Secrets for Men. She worked as a Gynecological Teaching Associate for 10 years in New York City and At Your Cervix is her first feature film.

Renée Bergan is a freelance filmmaker in NYC: producing, directing, shooting, and/or editing videos for various clients which range from the arts and sciences to non-profit to corporate work.

Her first feature documentary, Sadaa E Zan, Voices of Women (2002), received the Social Justice Award for Best Documentary at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in 2003. Her other documentaries include: Paul Soldner: Playing With Fire (2005); Poto Mitan: Haitian Women, Pillars of the Global Economy (2010); Gela (2006), and Sharon’s Story (2012) – Honorable Mention, Red Hook Film Festival – 2013.

She was a camera person on the award-winning documentary The Hand that Feeds (2014) and Asst. Producer on Crossing Bhutan (2016), and most recently was documenting at Standing Rock, ND with Mirrors and Hammers Productions where a lot of her work was aired on news agencies such as Documentary Now! and The Real News Network.

Renée Bergan


Livia is an activist and organizer working at the intersection of racial, gender, and health justice. She successfully lobbied for the passage of a bill requiring explicit and informed consent for intimate exams in her home state of Connecticut and is now working with At Your Cervix to pass similar laws in other states.

A survivor of childhood medical violence, Livia is passionate about advocating for and educating both the public and healthcare professionals on the issues of patient consent and bodily autonomy. Livia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from The George Washington University and a Master of Public Administration from New York University.

In addition to her activism and organizing, Livia has a professional background in philanthropic grantmaking, nonprofit management, and fundraising.
