About the film

South African/Canadian actress Dayle McLeod didn’t know anything about her heritage until--her ancestors started appearing in her dreams instructing her to learn their mother tongue, Zulu, and travel to South Africa to undergo the rigorous rites of passage of the traditional healer or Sangoma.

This Short, Personal documentary shot on her iphone follows Dayle to S.A for the the ‘Intwaso' ceremony (‘Day of Your Death’) which takes three months to prepare for, under the strict and harsh tutelage of elder Sangomas.

Through undergoing this hero’s journey Dayle finds strength and wholeness that reverberates throughout her family and lineage.
