Lighten Our Darkness illuminates the music, history and culture of choral evensong.

An exploration and celebration of one of the oldest forms of worship used around the world, this documentary goes behind the words and music and looks at how and why Choral Evensong continues to be the mainstay of Anglican daily worship in many cathedrals and large churches.

Part 1 includes scenes from cathedrals in Salisbury, Lincoln, Chester, Guildford and Arundel, plus Trinity College, Cambridge, an RSCM summer course and the Steel City Choristers. The cast of characters includes Andrew Nethsingha, Hugh Morris, Richard Tanner, Elizabeth Stratford, Katherine Dienes-Williams, Bob Chilcott and many more.

Part 2 will be released later in 2026.
