Redemption Time is a 70-minute performance film featuring poet Jimmy Santiago Baca and jazz violinist Christian Howes––two formerly incarcerated artists who reclaimed their lives through art. Through spoken word, jazz, and intimate testimony, the film speaks to the universal hope for redemption.. Directed by David Gonzalez, Redemption Time is an emotional journey and a call to reimagine justice, identity, and human potential.

What people are saying
‘“Through a profound experience of solidarity in suffering and unlikely friendship, Redemption Time transcends many of the dualisms so cherished by a culture nourished by antagonisms—Black/white, Anglo/Latino, wealth/poverty, urban/rural, word/image, east/west, solo/ensemble, innocent/guilty. It is an immensely powerful and important work of visual, poetic, and musical storytelling singed at its core by an encounter with the deepest mysteries of our shared humanity. Redemption Time is a unique and deeply moving act of approach towards human communion, and revelatory of the ways that deep and painful truthfulness can yield profound joy.”‘
