About the film

Four service members defend their country’s freedom while fighting for their own, putting their careers and their families’ livelihoods on the line by coming out as transgender to top brass officials in the Pentagon in hopes of attaining the equal right to serve. Since the film premiered in 2018, transgender service members have continued to be a flashpoint in American politics. President Trump banned their service again at the beginning of his second term.

--

Eight years after its SXSW premiere, the fight these four soldiers waged on screen is still being fought in courtrooms today. In 2025, Trump reinstated a broader ban on transgender military service — no exceptions for troops already serving. The Supreme Court allowed it to take effect. A federal appeals court has since ruled it likely unconstitutional.

Stay Engaged

Book a screening and Q&A with Logan and Laila now to support their fight and amplify their voices during this critical time for the fight for trans service, and to let politicians know ahead of the midterms that supporting ALL those who fight for us is their prerogative during the midterm campaign season.
