About the film

When filmmaker Sarah Teale’s husband, Gordon, is diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, she begins looking more closely at their rural community in upstate New York and discovers dozens of neighbours living with the same illness. What begins as a personal search for answers becomes a wider investigation into the possible role of paraquat, a widely used pesticide. Working with neurologists, environmental researchers and journalists, Sarah follows the scientific evidence, corporate records and regulatory history surrounding the chemical, while caring for Gordon as his disease progresses. As she digs deeper, the investigation becomes inseparable from the life she and Gordon are trying to hold onto.
