The WGA / SAG-AFTRA Strike is an Opportunity to Build Better

If you've been following the entertainment industry news, change is imminent, and we're excited to welcome it. We support the writers, actors, and creators and what they are asking for. We know the solutions aren't simple, and there are a myriad of reasons why and how we got here. But as an artist-first platform, our mission, values, and technology are thoughtfully designed to reflect the needs of film creators everywhere and actively create the future of film distribution.
Among the demands from the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA are increased minimum pay rates, date transparency, increased streaming residuals, better working conditions, and guarantees to protect their likenesses as the use of AI evolves.
Here’s what support for this looks like on Kinema:
📊 Data Sharing. As the rights holder of the film, you know what we know. You can see who is booking your film, what their type of organization or business is, how many people get tickets to your screening events, and their contact information. And we do this while still supporting the utmost privacy of our users and your audiences.
🏆 Shared Success. With a revenue share standard, we win when you win. We built the Kinema platform to make using the tech affordable and accessible to get your film in front of audiences.
🎥 Content Ownership. You 100% maintain the rights to your film while it is on Kinema. We don't own it. All event organizers license the film directly from you. We’re non-exclusive, and you can cancel anytime, giving you control of your film's release.
⚖️ Autonomy & Control. You can set and change your licensing rates, ticket price minimums and maximums, and what revenue share you offer your screening hosts. We can make recommendations, but ultimately it’s your choice.
We stand by these principles in action. Dig in deeper here.
