In this highly acclaimed and Oscar-nominated documentary, filmmaker Bing Liu chronicles 12 years of his and his friends’ lives in Rockford, Illinois, where they bond over a mutually rabid passion for skateboarding. At home, the trio copes with their own volatile family issues, but at the local skatepark, all of that melts away. An essential coming-of-age tale about racial identity, generational trauma, and the perils of modern masculinity.
